Jake / Driveway expert
Grass stopshere
You can spot a rushed driveway from the road. It’s never the middle that gives it away, it’s the edges. That’s where I get picky.
The finish
There’s no fixing it after
Sealer dries the way it goes down. A crooked line or a heavy spot stays until the coat wears off, so I take my time with it.
The colour
One even black
An even application leaves the whole driveway the same black from end to end, so nothing pulls your eye away from a clean finish.
Before I leave
Two things I check
- The edge
- The last section
The sealer stops where your lawn starts, and the last section looks just like the first. If either one is off, I’m not done.
Real Proudly Done work
The part you see from the road
That’s me in the video. The photos are two real Proudly Done driveways. Judge them the way you’d judge your own, from the road.

A straight answer
Sealer is not a reset button
If the base has failed, or the driveway is sinking, heaving or cracked right through, sealer won’t fix that. I’d rather tell you now than after you’ve paid for a coat.

Grey driveway? Send photos
